Have you ever been so moved by a sermon that you tried to share it with someone you cared about but couldn’t? Maybe you felt that you couldn’t come close to presenting it as well as the original preacher and wished your loved one had been there to hear it themselves. Preachers, including myself, aren’t immune to this feeling. I sometimes ask myself, “Why should I try to preach that message when I can direct them to the one whom God gave the message—and let them hear what I heard for themselves?”
Technology Has Always Served the Gospel
This question captures the heart of TheGospelPreached.org’s mission: to reach as many people as possible with the gospel of Jesus Christ, through the use of technology. Since the time of Jesus, the message of the gospel has steadily become known to increasing numbers of people. Technological advancements have often accelerated the spread of the gospel and our understanding of the scriptures.
Wycliffe’s and Tyndale’s English translations of the Bible are one example. Both men were inspired by the conviction that everyone—not just priests and those who could read Hebrew, Greek, and Latin—should have access to the Bible. Another example is the use of Gutenberg’s printing press. Before this innovation, expensive handwritten manuscripts were available only to clergy and the wealthy. These two technological advances brought immense benefits to both the Church and the world.
Our Unique Approach: Combining Written and Spoken Word
In its own modest way, TheGospelPreached.org also uses technology to make God’s Word more widely available—with a unique addition. We combine the written word with the spoken or preached word. By the Spirit’s power, the written word becomes Rhema when spoken—God’s specific word for a particular person or group at a specific time and place. When we receive the Rhema Word into our hearts, we encounter God.
God chooses pastors, teachers, and prophets to reveal scripture’s deeper mysteries, shedding light on difficult passages and helping us better understand the Bible during our personal study. These experiences happen both publicly, when someone is anointed to speak to God’s people, and privately, during prayer and study. And amazingly, this happens not only when we’re in person listening to a speaker, but when we watch them on video.
Meeting Today’s Generation Where They Are
This is why TheGospelPreached.org focuses on sermons. Today’s generation uses recorded video in every aspect of their lives. What distinguishes our platform is how we present these sermons: carefully curated, classified, and annotated to simplify access to God’s preached word. Our hope is that if the Rhema word of God is more easily accessible, more people will turn to it, more often, and rely on it as a regular part of their daily lives.
The word is the “power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.” The Bible states that it “shall not return to [God] void but shall accomplish what [He] pleases and prosper in the thing unto which [He] sent it.” I love God’s word, both written and spoken. The power of viewing these messages from God has changed my life. My prayer and passion is that you will experience the same comfort, guidance, deliverance, and abundance that I have when I viewed these messages, delivered by these anointed men and women of God.
